In Mbarara, the energy for primary elections is on. As expected, candidates are doing everything possible to woo voters to their side.
Seeing this second-time contender for Woman Member of Parliament (MP) in Mbarara district Jane Tayebwa Baganda has urged voters in the area to cast votes based on “reason” and not because they have been given money.
In an interview with our reporter at her home in Ruhemba trading center, Rubindi town council in Kashari North on Sunday, Tayebwa urged Mbarara to vote for candidates that will deliver services and not be driven off point by bribes from contenders.
“I believe there are candidates whose interest is to buy a vote and on reaching parliament, they use the money to run their own businesses… I appeal to you not to sell your rights because your vote is your right which will save you today and save your child tomorrow,” she said.
“Let us conduct a peaceful election and chose a leader who will lobby and represent us in parliament. Let’s stand with a candidate you are assured of delivering services near to you.”
Jane Baganda also called for a fair and peaceful election. Parties will be partaking in primaries this month. In NRM, voting will be by lining up.
