Former Speaker Oulanyah Laid to Rest in Lalogi

The former Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah has on Friday evening been laid to rest in his ancestral home in Lalogi, Omoro District.

Thousands of mourners including top dignitaries led by the Vice President Jessica Alupo gathered in Ajuri village, Lalogi Subcounty to send off Oulanyah who succumbed to cancer on March 20 2022 after suffering multiple organ failure, according to the postmortem report.

Amid the funeral service, a strong whirlwind disrupted the proceedings after it shockingly flown away the tent sheltering Oulanyah's casket and another tent that sheltered the clergy and family members, leaving a handful injured. 

This happened shortly after the cultural leader had been invited to address the mourners. 

Oulanyah was laid to rest at his home at about 4.30 with a 17 gun salute accorded to personalities who are offered a state funeral.
