HOIMA: Suspected iron bar hit men have struck Hoima again in just a week, killing a 24-year-old hotel employee.
Moses Mujuni, a cleaner at Glory Summit Hotel was attacked on Monday night while he returned home from work. Mujuni succumbed to grave injuries at Hoima Hospital on Tuesday.
Albertine region police spokesperson Julius Hakiza says the deceased was attacked at around 10:30 pm in Kiryatete, Hoima town’s notorious suburb. With severe head injuries, the assailants dumped their victim by the roadside.
No suspects have been arrested yet, although Hakiza says police are following up some clues. Last week Hoima District Deputy Internal Security Officer, James Musumba was attacked in the same way as he walked home in Kijungu, an upscale periphery of Hoima town. He has since been hospitalized.
Iron bar wielding thugs continue being a menace in Hoima, and several people have fallen victim. Majority of the victims have died, as security seems not making any breakthrough in fighting the criminals.
In March this year, George William Kasaija, a secondary school teacher was murdered by the hit men, while Peretua Tibulya, an employee of Hoima Miika Eco Resort Hotel was hit the previous month. Other victims, many of them boda-boda cyclists have been murdered and their motorcycles taken.
