A Parliament vehicle that was driven by the former Parliamentary Commissioner, Hon Francis Zaake has been retrieved from  his home.

According to a statement from Chris Obore, the director, Communication and Public Affairs, the Parliamentary police on Thursday 12th January 2023 on the directive of the Clerk to Parliament, retrieved from Hon Zaake's residence, a motor vehicle, Reg. Number UG 0333H belonging to the Parliamentary Commission.

The action was prompted by Zaake’s refusal to return Government property that by policy is supposed to be driven by an official driver.

"The Clerk to Parliament had severally advised Hon Zaake to follow the guidelines governing management of government fleet and return the car but he declined. The police have delivered the car and its safe at parliament parking," Obore said.

Last year in March, Zaake was impeached by the whole House for indiscipline and misconduct. He has since refused to return to the Parliamentary Commission an official vehicle that was part of the privileges that he enjoyed.
