Museveni Arrives in Yokohama, to Address TICAD7 Conference

YOKOHAMA, JAPAN: President Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday arrived in the Japanese seaside city of Yokohama where he joins other world leaders to attend the three day Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD).

The Conference kicks off tomorrow Wednesday 28th August 2019 at the Pacifico Yokohama Convention Centre. The President was received at Haneda/Narita International Airport by the Special Assistant to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Hisanobu Hasama, Uganda’s Minister of State for Works Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala, Patrick Mugoya the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Uganda’s Ambassador to Japan, Betty Aketch Okullo.

This year’s conference is being held under the theme “Africa and Yokohama, Sharing Passion for the future”. It's hosted by the Japanese Government and co-sponsored by the United Nations, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Africa Union Commission and the World Bank.

President Museveni will tomorrow (Wednesday) address the plenary on the topic, “Accelerating Economic Transformation and Improving Business Environment through Innovation and Private Sector Engagement.”
