UPDF 403 Brigade in Napak District Gets 60 New Housing Units
The Deputy Commander of Land Forces Maj. Gen. Francis Takirwa commissioned 60 housing units at the 403 Infantry Brigade Headquarters in Matany Sub-county, Napak District. The commissioned units, whose construction commenced on May 25, are part of the thirty thousand housing units aimed at addressing the accommodation and welfare of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces.
Gen. Takirwa said that the construction of the housing units is in line with the vision of the Commander-in-Chief to see that every security personnel in UPDF, Police, and Prisons lives decently. "We are now shifting from traditional ways of living to modern ones."
He argued soldiers to maintain and preserve the houses and be mindful of their hygiene and sanitation. Maj. Gen. Takirwa, however, advised soldiers on financial discipline and plan for retirement so that they reserve money to start up income-generating activities.
On his part, Brig Gen. Felix Busizoori, the deputy commander of the Third Division noted that the welfare of soldiers is one of the priority areas that UPDF has started putting efforts into it and this is intended to improve the livelihood of troops.
He commended the Engineers Construction Regiment of the Third Division for their tremendous work and urged them to maintain the spirit and professional standards of their work. Present at the function were Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Francis Chemusto, Col. Richard Butungi, Lt. Col. Morris Twongyeirwe and Maj. Kizito Mulwana among others.
