The Minister of Education and Sports, First Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni has urged women to form impactful groups in order to create household incomes.

Janet said this at the belated International Women's Day event in Rubaga on Monday.

Using financial organisations as BRAC and Grameen Bank that started as group saving groups, the First Lady urged women to strengthen their women group and grow them into solid financial base.

"My vision is for Ugandan women to emulate successful models like Grameen Bank and BRAC. These organizations evolved from women's groups into globally recognized institutions, and I hope to see Ugandan women unite to form impactful groups and eventually establish their own banks," Janet said.

To support this vision, Janet said that she had to invite BRAC to Rubaga to educate and support women in working collaboratively, learning how to save, and potentially creating their own financial institution.

"I also recognize the impactful role of the Parish Development Model and encourage women to join SACCOs to benefit from the program's resources and support for income-generating activities," she said.
