NRM Most Reactionary Organisation in Uganda, Says Gen MK
The Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has said he does not believe in the National Resistance Movement (NRM), noting that it is a reactionary organisation.
Gen Kainerugaba who was recently promoted to the highest military rank in the UPDF however said that he believes in President Yoweri Museveni, the NRM national chairman.
“I believe in Jesus Christ and I believe in my father, General @KagutaMuseveni. I certainly do not believe in NRM. In Marxist terms it is probably the most reactionary organisation in the country,” Gen Kainerugaba tweeted Friday evening.
Although he did not cite a particular example, the General was certainly refering to the way the NRM as an organisation handles its business.
Political parties perform key tasks in a democratic society, such as soliciting and articulating public policy priorities and civic needs and problems as identified by members and supporters, socialising and educating voters and citizens in the functioning of the political and electoral system and the generation of general political values.
Additionally political parties are expected to balance opposing demands and converting them into general policies, activating and mobilising citizens into participating in political decisions and transforming their opinions into viable policy options aswell as channelling public opinion from citizens to government and recruiting and training candidates for public office among other functions.
Gen Kainerugaba who has been off the social networking site since November 20 said in another tweet that he had taken off time to do some reading.
“I greet all our people in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Do not be troubled that I have been silent for some weeks. I have been doing some small reading. I am now more than sure that our generation will transform Africa!” The General who has revealed his intention to run for the Presidency said in an earlier tweet.
