NWSC Rolls out E-Billing System
The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has rolled out electronic bills (e-bills) to simplify the management of household water bills. This new system will phase out physical bills that were previously being delivered door to door.
In a statement issued by the national water company, the e-billing system that is already being piloted in selected NWSC services areas in Kampala will bring ease and convenience to the customers in accessing, receiving, and managing their water and sewerage bills, account statements, and others. The corporation indicated that customers will now receive their bills by text message or email at the end of every month.
“It is very simple and convenient. You will receive an SMS message showing units consumed and your outstanding bill at the end of the month,” the statement reads.
“You [customers] will receive an SMS message showing units consumed and your outstanding bill at the end of every month. Attached to the message is a link which you can click and view your detailed water bill. This works for both analog and smartphones,” NWSC said. Customers will, therefore, be able to pay bills over the counter in banks, via mobile money, direct debit, and mobile banking.
