The MK Movement leaders held a press conference today to address allegations made by the President of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Hon. Kyagulanyi, regarding his absence at the recent royal wedding of the Kyabazinga of Busoga, Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, and Queen Jovia Mutesi.

During the press conference, the MK Movement clarified that General Muhoozi Kainerugaba had nothing to do with Hon. Kyagulanyi's absence at the royal wedding. The movement stated that the organising committee of the wedding had invited certain members of the Central Committee of the MK Movement, including their Chairman, as special guests of the Kyabazinga. They emphasized that the decision to invite guests was made by the hosts, and not by Gen Muhoozi.

The MK Movement also condemned Hon. Kyagulanyi's allegations, calling on him to refrain from politics of name calling, insults, and telling lies about people with different political views. They urged him to apologize to the people of Busoga, friends of Busoga, and the Kyabazinga and Ihnebantu for his comments.

Furthermore, the MK Movement expressed their gratitude to the government for providing sufficient security for the royal wedding and urged all political leaders to refrain from using such occasions for political agendas and to show respect to traditional leaders and their communities.

In conclusion, the MK Movement congratulated the Kyabazinga and Queen on their marriage, wishing them a happy and prosperous life together.

The MK Movement press release comes in response to recent controversy surrounding Hon. Kyagulanyi's absence at the royal wedding, and seeks to clarify the circumstances surrounding the event.

MK Movement PRESS RELEASE.

Good afternoon distinguished Ladies & Gentlemen.

As you are all aware,The Kyabazinga of Busoga Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV on 18th Nov, 2023 got married to Queen Jovia Mutesi the Ihnebantu of Busoga.

The MK Movement under the leadership of General Muhoozi Kainerugaba once again Congratulates The Kyabazinga of Busoga, Ihnebantu and all the People of Busoga for organising a colourful Function. We wish His Royal Highnes the Kyabazinga a happy Marriage.

We have called this press conference to clarify a few issues.

Our attention has been drawn to allegations made by the President of National Unity Platform(NUP) Hon. Kyagulanyi that he was invited by The Organising Committee for the Royal Wedding of the Kyabazinga but President Museveni and Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba our Chairman made sure that him and other members of his Party do not attend by deploying heavy security. Infact he went ahead to allege that he had been contacted and told not to attend the function on instructions of Gen Muhoozi.

We would like to categorically state & inform the Country that Gen MK had nothing to do with Hon. Kyagulanyi's absence at the Royal Wedding. The organising committee of the wedding invited some members of the Central Committee of MK Movement and the cards are here with us. Our Chairman was invited as a special guest of the Kyabazinga and spoke on behalf of the friends of His Majesty the Kyabazinga.

Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba had nothing to do with Hon. Kyagulanyi's absence at the Royal Wedding because he was neither on the organising committee nor was he the one issuing invitation cards. He was also invited like other guests. The descretion to invite guests was by the hosts and not Gen Muhoozi.

Hon. Kyagulanyi should therefore find another reason to use as to why he didnt attend the wedding of the Kyabazinga, it is so sad he continues to use Gen Muhoozi as a reason for his own undoings and weaknesses and dare challenge Hon. Kyagulanyi to name the person who told him so. Hon Kyagulanyi should know that Ugandans have long moved aware from politics of blackmail, idle talk & theatre.

We would like to request our brother the leader of the National Unity Platform to stop politics of name calling, insults & telling lies about people who seemingly disagree with his political views. For long together with his NUP Party, they have been been attacking and insulting anybody who challenges his views & deeds. They started with attacking the Katikiro of Buganda and Nabagereka accusing them that they deliberately refused to take the Kabaka of Buganda for treatment, they went and demonstrated in USA where the Former Speaker had been flown for treatment. Now they are insulting the Kyabazinga and the people of Busonga.

This is uncultured and unacceptable both in our communities and morden times.

Having not been invited for the wedding should not mean that Hon. Kyagulanyi and his Party should abuse the Kyabazinga, Ihnebantu and the people of Busoga.

The MK Movement therefore condemns this in the strongest terms possible and ask Hon. Kyagulanyi to apologise to the people of Busoga, friends of Busoga, The Kyabazinga and Ihnebantu.

Lastly, We would like to thank the Government for providing enough security for the Royal Wedding which continues to demonstrate the capacity of our armed forces amidist so many threats like ADF. We also want to thank all Ugandans and Institutions that supported the wedding. May God bless you abundantly.
