Eddy Kenzo is among the 2023 Grammy nominees for his song Gimme Love, a collaboration with American singer and songwriter Matthew David Benson, aka Matt B.
He was nominated under the category of Best Global Music Performance.
The Grammy Awards, which are being held for the 65th time, are presented annually by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the US for outstanding achievements in the record industry.
The Grammys are considered the highest music honor, equivalent to the Academy Awards (Oscars) for motion pictures.
Kenzo's collabo has already scooped two awards this year. In August, the song won the Oniros Film Awards under the Best Song category.
The New York-based award event celebrates films and filmmakers from all around the world by discovering high-quality and ambitious films.
In September it bagged two platinum gongs at Muse Creative Awards and Muse Design Awards.
Muse Awards recognize the creative design achievements of professionals who spur the evolution of design. They are organized by the International Awards Associate (IAA).
The song, whose video was released in March, has also been nominated in five categories in the Indie Music Channel Awards.
Kenzo, 32, received international attention after the release of his 2014 single, Sitya Loss, which was accompanied by a viral video that featured the Ghetto Kids.
He has since dropped four albums, winning numerous national and international awards, including a Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award in 2018, a BET Award in 2015, and multiple All Africa Music Awards.
He was the first Ugandan artist to win the BET award in 2015.
