The Government Citizen Interaction Center which was previously under the Ministry of ICT & National Guidance has been moved to State House and will be headed by Ms Marcella Karekye who replaces Mr Awel Uwuhanganye whose contract expired in February after two and half years of service

Established as primary contact Center for citizens to enhance the monitoring of service delivery and provide a channel for feedback and suggestions from citizens, the unit encourages open governance through awareness of public services.

The development was confirmed by outgoing Senior Presidential Press Secretary Don Wanyama who has also assumed his new role as the Managing Director of Vision group.

Karekye who has had several roles including as an editor at Fountain Publishers describes herself as a publisher and hotelier on her Twitter profile.

GCIC’s strategic mission is to provide timely, cost-effective, and data-driven communication between Government and its citizens through mainstream media and online communication channels.
