Embattled OPM PS Guwatudde, 3 Others Stand Trial Today

Embattled Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) Christine Guwatudde Kintu and 3 others are today, Thursday set to stand trial at the Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala.

Guwatudde was in April this year jointly charged with the Under Secretary-Joel Wanjala, the Commissioner in charge of relief Disaster Preparedness, Head of the covid 19 Relief Management- Martin Owor and the Assistant Commissioner (Head of Procurement and Disposal Unit) Lutimba Kyeyune Fred over abuse of office and for allegedly inflating prices for the cost of government relief items.

According to fresh court summons, Guwatudde and 3 others are today expected to appear for purposes of committing them to the High Court for trial.

Presiding Grade One Magistrate Sarah Namusobya Mutebi on Wednesday issued the summons after Guwatudde's lawyer Medard Lubega Ssegona informed court that the accused was sick and had been admitted at International Hospital Kampala (IHK).
