Uganda - UAE Business Forum Kicks off in Kampala
The Uganda - UAE Business Forum is underway at at the Speke Resort and Conference Center in Munyonyo, Kampala. The Forum, which is in its second edition, will be held from October 10 - 13 under the theme 'Uganda, the gateway of the UAE to the EAC region'.
It is an annual event aimed at attracting Foreign Direct Investment, promoting Uganda's exports in UAE, promoting tourism, attracting technology transfers, and projecting a positive image of Uganda. Uganda's Ambassador to the UAE Zaake Kibedi said the Forum will seek to mobilize private and public investments in priority sectors in Uganda by presenting the investment opportunities offered by the country to UAE investors.
At an earlier press conference, the Minister of State for Investment Evelyn Anite said "Uganda - United Arab Emirates (UAE) Business Forum will foster Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), boost exports, promote tourism, facilitate technology transfers, and strengthen ties between the two nations".
Speaking at the Forum on Tuesday, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja said she was "honored to preside over the Uganda-UAE Business Forum as it provides a platform to enhance Uganda's export competitiveness, attract more foreign investment and tourists, and jointly tackle common business challenges between our nations while charting a path forward."
Anite said: "Uganda shines as the best investment destination in East Africa, honored at the prestigious Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) in Abu Dhabi, UAE! With its flourishing potential and strategic location, now is the time for the UAE to invest in Uganda's promising future."
Uganda Tourism Board Chief Executive Lilly Ajarova said: "Explore the magic of Uganda! Experience its abundant wildlife, delve into its captivating history and culture, bask in its stunning landscapes, venture into aquatic wonders, and connect with its welcoming people. Uganda offers it all."
According to the Director General of Uganda Investment Authority Robert Mukiza, Uganda is the fastest-growing economy in East Africa with a GDP of over US$ 40.43 billion. "Don't miss out on the opportunity to be part of this remarkable growth story," he said.
