SafeBoda announced Monday it had slashed both cash and cashless ride costs by 50%.

The ride-hailing firm says the offer will run from Monday, May 3 to Friday, May 7, after which the cost will be at 30% off every ride for the rest of the month.

As per the new changes, where a person paid Shs6000-7,000 to move from Bweyogerere to Clock Tower, they will now be charged Shs3,000-3500. That’s an example.

The 6-year-old company now counts over 1 million customers and over 20,000 SafeBodas in Kampala, Uganda and Ibadan, Nigeria.

Ricky Thomson, the co-founder of SafeBoda, says the new campaign is aimed at increasing the daily earnings and rides for SafeBoda drivers and to appreciate customers for their continued support for the past 6 years.

“We believe the offer should encourage more people to join the SafeBoda community for a convenient boda-boda experience."

Customers will also stand a chance to win exciting giveaways in the campaign period. These include TVs, Laptops, Mifis, Speakers and more when they take and share a ride on social media.
