Rwanda Releases Abducted UPDF Soldier

A UPDF soldier attached to the 35th Battalion based in Kisoro that was abducted by Rwandan Defense Forces (RDF) at Cyanika Border has been released.

The soldier was part of the Ugandan soldiers on routine patrol on Uganda's side around the Cyanika border point with Rwanda.

The Soldier was released with all his equipment according to a highly placed source familiar with the development.

The UPDF soldier had been abducted after he stayed behind to ease himself before he fell in an ambush laid by Rwandan soldiers who had crossed to the Ugandan side.

The Kampala Post reported about the incident that happened Saturday evening.
