Reknowned Ugandan visual artist Kwizera aka Kwiz-Era has revealed a plan to have Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s mural paintings across Uganda’s major towns.

Mr Kwizera revealed this while unveiling the first MK Mural painting in Kabale Town as a community interactive event of MK Movement Kigezi Chapter.

This was an initiative of the artist andnhis colleagues to have a community outreach as a mobilisation tool for the MK Movement.

“We intend to do this across the country but we had to do the sample from home. And the response was positive,” Mr Kwizera said in a message seen by the Kampala Post.

Mr Pachu Rajput, a Ugandan of Indian descent (pictured in red t-shirt below) offered the free space for the MK painting. Mr Rajput’s grandparents settled in Kabale as traders many years ago and he speaks Swahili and fluent Rukiga.

The unveiling of the MK mural im Kabale comes days after the Rukundo Egumeho thanksgiving concert that attracted thousands of people from Kigezi and others from across the border in Rwanda.

Gen Kainerugaba who was the chief guest said trade between Uganda and Rwanda has reached record levels due to the improved relations between the two sister countries.

Gen Kainerugaba who is the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations played a crucial role in restoring relations with Rwanda.

On three occassions, Gen Kainerugaba flew to Kigali where his engagements with President Paul Kagame resulted in the reopening of the Katuna border that had initially been closed for close to three years.

After the Kigezi concert which was also meant to celebrate the reopening of the borders, Gen Kainerugaba again flew to Kigali where he marked his 49th birthday and held several meetings with the Rwandan President.

At the birthday dinner hosted by President Kagame and First Lady Jeaneatte, President Kagame praised Gen Kainerugaba for his role in restoring the good relations. In a video released by the President’s press, Kagame said that not only is Uganda and Rwanda at peace but there is also friendship.

It should be remembered that President Kagame was also in Uganda last year at the invitation of Gen Kainerugaba. The Rwandan leader attended the dinner to mark the General’s 48th birthday and held several meetings with his Ugandan counterpart.
