PM Nabbanja Meets EU Envoys; Italy Offers Shs41bn for Karamoja Infrastructure
Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja met with European Union ambassadors for a discussion that focused on “a range of issues that are important for strengthening our country's partnership with them.”
The prime minister, via Twitter, noted that she “deeply value[s] this relationship & contribution the EU has made and continues to make in our country's development journey.”

In a related development, the Italian ambassador to Uganda Massimiliano Mazzanti announced the signing of a 10 million euro (about Shs41 billion) loan for development of infrastructure in the Karamoja region.
At the signing of the deal, which will finance an initiative codenamed Karamoja Infrastructure Development Project II, Uganda was represented by finance minister Matia Kasaija, Karamoja affairs minister Agnes Nandutu and health minister Ruth Aceng.
The project seeks to improve universal health coverage in the Karamoja region by setting up new health centers and acquiring medical equipment.
The components of the project include infrastructure development, equipment and retooling for primary healthcare, consultancy and, project management.
This is not the first time the Italian government is supporting health sector development in the region.
Between 2016 and 2019, the government offered a €4,200,000 grant to support the construction of 68 2-bedroom staff units in seven districts of Abim, Kaabong, Kotido, Moroto, Napak, Amudat and Nakapirpirit.
