Following fake news announcing that the incoming Commander of UPDF Land Forces Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba was ill or had died, the outgoing SFC commander has said this is not the first time his enemies are peddling such fake news.

Gen Kainerugaba who is also the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations says this is the third time his enemies have announced him dead but he laughed off their wishes, saying God continues to bless him instead.

Last week, President Museveni made changes in the top leadership of the army, and Gen Kainerugaba is among those assigned to new positions. He is expected to take up his new position this week.

In a tweet sent out Monday morning, Gen Kainerugaba said that he had learnt of the fake news through his friend Alan Kasujja.

"Some friends of mine like @kasujja told me that some enemies were declaring me dead, or very ill from Covid-19. I'm very well. This is the third time in my military career that enemies are claiming I'm dead. The funny thing is every time they do that Almighty God blesses me more," Gen Kainerugaba said in the tweet.

It is common for some individuals, using their social media accounts to mislead the public through the publication of fake news, especially about high-profile Ugandans.

Before he officiated at the World Health Summit in Munyonyo, President Museveni had falsely been reported to have been airlifted to Germany for treatment.

Over the weekend, another prominent businessman, Bulaimu Muwanga Kibirige, commonly known as BMK was reported dead whereas he is alive.

BMK is the owner of Hotel Africana in Kampala.
