President Museveni flies to Kenya for Ruto's Inauguration Ceremony
President Yoweri Museveni flew over to Nairobi, Kenya to witness the inauguration of William Samuel Ruto, he tweeted Tuesday morning.
Ruto is being sworn in as the fifth president of Kenya, succeeding Uhuru Kenya.
Ruto beat Raila Odinga in the recently concluded presidential election.
President Museveni said that "we shall continue to foster our good relations with Kenya and the other EAC countries for the prosperity of our people."
Kenya's Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho revealed that 20 heads of state and government had confirmed attending the ceremony that will be held at the Karasani stadium in Nairobi.
Apart from all the EAC Heads of State, other presidents that are expected are e Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Djibouti leader Ismael Guelleh, Somalia’s Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Intergovernmental Authority on Development (Igad) Executive Secretary Workneh Gebeyehu and African Union Commission chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat.
Ghanaian President Nana Akuffo Addo, Seychelle’s Wavel Ramkalawan, Azali Assoumani of Comoros, Zimbabwe's Emmerson Mnangagwa, Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique, South Africa’s Deputy President David Mabuza, and Sudan’s Sovereignty Council Member Ibrahim Jaber are also among the confirmed guest list.
