Gen Kainerugaba Highlights Bright Future at Land Forces Retirement Ceremony

The Uganda People's Defense Forces Commander Land Forces Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has highlighted a number of achievements registered since a new team took over leadership at the UPDF Barracks in Bombo.

Gen Kainerugaba who was chief guest at the official ceremony for the retirement of senior Land Forces officers thanked the retiring officers for their long service to the country.

The CLF noted that under his leadership, a number of projects have been undertaken and completed, noting that more transformation is taking place at the Land Forces headquarters.

The General who is also the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations for example said the new operation center has been commissioned while a perimeter fence around the barracks is fully in place.

He noted that intruders who were trespassing and even living within the barracks no longer have access to the security premises.

The Commander Land Forces also said that the residences of the CLF, his deputy and the chief of staff land forces have been renovated, adding that the leaders now stay in the barracks.

He pointed out that the construction of accommodation facilitates for other officers is underway for the first time in a long time.

At least 260 officers at the rank of Colonel (62), Lieutenant Colonel (65) and Major (133) were officially discharged from the army at a colorful function attended by their family members, UPDF Generals and area leaders.

Gen Kainerugaba told the retiring officers that they are always welcome to their home in Bombo, noting that they have only retired from active service but now join the reserve forces of the UPDF.

Col Sam Karogo who spoke on behalf of other retiring officers, thanked the CLF for sparing time to preside over the event.

Col Karogo also thanked the Commander in Chief Gen Yoweri Museveni for guiding the UPDF in all aspects, hence enabling the soldiers to efficiently serve their country.

Karogo thanked the President for enhancing salaries of senior officers, saying this will not only help them regarding welfare but will also help the retiring officers settle in their retirement.
